Camtex Fabrics is now supplying Cambrelle® Sport to adidas for use in its street wear-focused Sport Heritage collection, making it the latest in a long list of famous sporting brands to fit the world’s leading shoe lining into their footwear. Cambrelle® Sport, which was specifically designed for the sporting footwear market, has a carefully engineered structure that helps feet to feel fresh and comfortable all day.

Over the last few months adidas has increased the order levels of the pique-patterned shoe lining with the launch of its new spring / summer 2005 collection, and the variety of colours being requested has also grown, with Camtex Fabrics manufacturing rolls of the product to suit the specific needs of the different Heritage products.

Adidas’s latest footwear range has been designed to serve both the sporting and fashion arenas of the industry, and the decision to feature Cambrelle®-lined shoes highlights the ever-increasing diversity of the breathable lining.

Cambrelle® has always been seen as an effective shoe lining within the Outdoor sports field, with brands such as Scarpa and Zamberlan using it in their walking and hiking boots. While this may still be its major market, the introduction of Cambrelle® Sport has allowed it to make successful inroads in to the top-end athletic footwear market.

Ecco, the leading golf footwear brand, has used Cambrelle® for years now, and when the World’s number one female golfer Annika Sorenstum strode to victory in the Mizuno Classic golf tournament there were a pair of Cambrelle®-lined ecco shoes on her feet. German brand Puma used Cambrelle® Sport in their high-end ‘King SL’ boots which have been worn by Italian and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and are currently worn by England Rugby Union squad vice-captain Mike Tindall.

Such brands are attracted to Cambrelle® because of its unbeatable ability to bring moisture management, comfort and durability to shoes. Kieran O’Hare, managing director of UK-based Camtex Fabrics, is delighted that adidas is the latest big-name brand to convert to Cambrelle®. He said: “Since the 20s, adidas has been supplying state-of-the-art performance products to athletes and sports fans, and to ensure they continue gaining this recognition it’s best to use leading components such as Cambrelle®.

“For every day sports footwear Cambrelle® is the obvious lining because it is proven to keep feet feeling fresh, even if they are worn all day long. Even when people are just wearing the footwear as a fashion item, it is important that factors such as support and comfort are not neglected. We hope more brands follow in the footsteps of adidas, which really take the health of their customer’s feet into consideration.”
