When Japanese Special Forces embarked on the clean-up of the Fukushima nuclear reactor in the wake of last year’s deadly tsunami, they knew they had to use only the most hard-wearing, high-quality equipment.
That is why they specified their boots had to contain Cambrelle® – the world’s leading branded shoe lining that is capable of absorbing three-and-a-half times its own dry weight in moisture, keeping the foot cooler, drier and more comfortable.
With the clean-up ongoing, the Japanese Special Forces are working in such highly contaminated areas that the boots have to be replaced regularly.
“They’re very quality conscious and this specific application requires a high-quality product,” says Kieran O’Hare, chief executive of Camtex Fabrics. “Our product had been specified in that boot, so we have seen increased orders to take account of the boots that have to be thrown away for safety reasons.”
While Camtex Fabrics is unhappy about the circumstances, it is pleased to be able to assist the Japanese Special Forces by supporting their feet, making an arduous task that little bit more comfortable.
Camtex Fabrics is currently developing fabrics that have higher levels of recycled or sustainable material, and will be showcasing these and other products at the Lineapelle show in Bologna, Italy, from October 9 to 11, 2012.
