Olympics boost for Cambrelle's long-time partner
The London 2012 Olympics proved a boost to consumer confidence and to sportswear brands the world over. The producer of shoe lining Cambrelle® is proud to have supported adidas, the official sportswear partner of the Games, in its footwear concepts.
Cambrelle® is a fast-wicking, highly absorbent, abrasion-resistant fabric that is trusted by the world's leading shoe brands. It is made by UK-based Camtex Fabrics, which has supplied adidas since 2005.
“Adidas is one of our biggest customers sourcing our products out of Asia,” says Camtex Fabrics chief executive Kieran O'Hare. “It supplied uniforms for 3,000 athletes at the Olympics, and was worn by numerous medal winners. It sponsored many successful athletes including Team GB’s Jessica Ennis and Jamaican sprinter Johan Blake, and its achievements in this arena should be celebrated.”
Adidas anticipates record sales and earnings this year, in part due to its Olympics exposure. It invested £100 million to promote the brand on the global Olympic stage.
It has used Cambrelle® linings in its heritage range for seven years, adding comfort, durability and moisture management capabilities. Cambrelle® linings look after customers' feet as well as the shoes, by locking moisture away from the uppers, preventing staining and mildew build-up.
Camtex Fabrics is currently developing fabrics that have higher levels of recycled or sustainable material, and will be showcasing these and other products at the Lineapelle exhibition in Bologna, Italy, from October 9 to 11, 2012.
Cambrelle’s® famous piqué pattern is recognised around the world. Cambrelle® is a registered trademark protected by international law. The lining is used in a range of products from women’s shoes to hiking boots and is trusted by companies including Timberland, Ecco, Puma, Scarpa and Zamberlan.
Camtex Fabrics is headquartered in Cumbria, UK, and has manufacturing facilities in the north of England and China.
